General Rules

Requirements

Participants are to be divided in two groups, depending on their age:

Youth Group (National Level)

This group is for pianists that are either Mexican or foreigners living in Mexico, reaching their 22nd birthday on or before November 25th 2021.

All the participants under 22 years old, who consider themselves able to present the Adults Group repertoire, can present themselves in the previously mentioned group, playing the corresponding repertoire, at their own responsibility.

Adults Group (International Level)

This group is for pianists that are either Mexican, foreigners living in Mexico or pianists originating from Latin American countries*, reaching their 30th birthday on or before November 25th 2021.

* Latin American Countries: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela.

* The change in the age limit from 21 to 22 for the Youths Group and from 29 to 30 for the Adults Group will apply exclusively to the Seventh Edition of the Competition in 2021.

Mandatory Documents

We have published our new application portal, in which the candidates will be able to upload their information and send it to the organizational committee in a digital format. This was done to accelerate the application process, and also to aid you financially through saving on the shipping of physical documentation.

The required documents will be the following:

  1. Signed and Scanned Registration Application with a photograph. The application format will be generated automatically by the new application portal, using the information provided by the applicant.
  2. Scan of birth certificate.
  3. Scan of official ID. Personal ID card (for Mexicans) or the first pages of the passport (for foreigners). (In case the participant is underage and doesn't have neither an ID card nor a passport, a sealed school ID card or some other institution ID card with a photograph of the person can be used).
  4. Scan of the corresponding immigration document for foreigners residing in Mexico.
  5. Scans of Signed Recommendation letters from two professional pianists who have knowledge of the participant's career path.
  6. Artistic resume. Must be prepared to be included in the book of the competition, and must contain:
    • Information on musical studies.
    • Names of educational institutions from which you have received your musical formation.
    • List of professors that have been crucial in your pianistic formation.
    • List of awards, acknowledgements and distinctions.
  7. Proof, certificate or diploma of music studies. In case the participant has won competitions, attach scans of the recognition documents or diplomas that are mentioned in the resume.
  8. One high resolution color artistic photograph for the Competition's book.
  9. Scan of payment proof for the "Qualification Stage" fee.

    For Mexicans or foreigners residing in Mexico

    Cover the fee in the amount of $600.00 MXN for the "Qualification Stage". The bank account where you can deposit the fee is:

    For Latin American Participants

    Send the amount of $30 USD to the PayPal account administracion@cndepianojjcuevas.com

    You must send an e-mail to the organizational committee to notify of your payment, so that in a period of no more than 24 hours the committee could confirm the payment receival.

    It's recommendable to make the deposit on the same day you send your documentation.

  10. Video file with the material required for the "Qualification Stage".
    The video will be uploaded to the application portal of the Competition's website. The video must comply with the restrictions established in the portal.

All the documents must be sent through the application portal until Wedneseday, June 1st 2021.

To make the uploading process easier for you, the portal will allow for information to be uploaded in parts, so that you can submit everything once you have all the necessary information.

No documentation nor video files uploaded to the application portal after Wednesday, June 1st 2021 will be accepted.

* Very Important: on the same day of sending the information via the application portal, the applicant must inform the organizational committee via e-mail that he/she has uploaded the information on the application portal.

Once the documentation is received, the Organizational Committee will review it and view the recording for the Qualification Stage.

The Organizational Committee will inform the selected candidates of their participation in the Competition no later than Thursday, July 1 2021 via e-mail.

Application Fee

After receiving confirmation of participation in the Competition, the registration fee must be paid immediately (until July 8th 2021):

For Mexicans or foreigners residing in Mexico

Cover the participation fee in the amount of $1,500.00 MXN. You should attach a copy of the payment receipt from the bank. The bank account where you can deposit the fee is:

For Latin American Participants

To cover the registration fee, send the amount of $85.00 USD to the PayPal account administracion@cndepianojjcuevas.com

You must send an e-mail to the organizational committee to notify of your payment, so that in a period of no more than 24 hours the committee could confirm the payment receival.

COVID-19 Important Notice

Because of the COVID-19 sanitary contingency, in order to keep the participants, jury and public safe, the organizational committee has taken the responsible decision to cancel the 2020 Edition of the Competition and to postpone it for the year 2021 in the period between November 25th to December 4th 2021.

VERY IMPORTANT: Because of this change, the registration period will be kept open and the deadline to upload documents, videos, and also for payments for the selection test is extended to June 1, 2021. We remind you that the videos must be recently recorded.
