7th "José Jacinto Cuevas" Yamaha International Piano Competition

November 25th to December 4th 2021
Merida, Yucatan, Mexico

The “José Jacinto Cuevas” Competition was founded in 2008 in honor of the great legacy of Mr. Jose Jacinto Cuevas in an effort to try and follow in his footsteps, just as the great musicians of the state of Yucatan have done and keep doing. The main idea is to give young mexican pianists opportunities to compete and not only learn more about their personal level, but also compare it with their colleagues from all around Mexico and Latin America.

The Competition is a biennial event, whose first edition was dedicated to the 130th anniversary of Mtro. Cuevas' death and had place in Merida, Mexico, from November 23rd to November 30th 2008. Since then it has been held continuously in the years 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018.

The seventh edition of the Competition is programmed for the year 2021, from November 25th to December, 4th and it will be dedicated to the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of L. v. Beethoven and to the 270th Anniversary of the death of J. S. Bach.
